Storage vendor HighPoint has announced the availability of the RocketStor 631xA eight- and four-Bay Hardware RAID towers. Each compact brushed-aluminum tower enclosure is powered by our HighPoint's RAID technology, and dual 20Gbps Thunderbolt 2 ports, which supports hardware RAID 0, 1, 5 6, 10, 50 and JBOD configurations.
HighPoint technologies has launched a Mac mini server chassis -- the HighPoint NA338TB 16-Bay, Ultra-Compact Storage and PCIe Expansion Rackmount Solution. The NA338TB features a removable rear panel that can accommodate a complete Mac mini system, and -- with expansion card -- a 16-drive RAID in 0, 5, and 50 storage configurations.
HighPoint has debuted its next generation USB Host-to-Device storage and connectivity product lines, featuring 10Gb/s transfer speeds. The latest RocketU PCIe host adapter provides a USB 3.1 upgrade for any Mac or PC platform with PCIe slots. Additionally, the company's performance-oriented dual-bay USB 3.1 RocketStor 3100 Series Drive Docks support any industry standard 3.5- or 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD, including the latest 8TB models, and provide USB 3.1 connectivity via USB Type-B and Type-C ports, depending on model.
HighPoint Technologies continues to expand its USB 3.0 product portfolio, and has unveiled the RocketStor 5411D USB 3.0 Drive Dock and Hub. The palm-sized docking station combines multiple USB 3.0 ports, a card-reader, SATA drive dock, and universal charging station into a single device.
Like it or not, the shift to Thunderbolt is underway. The connection is extremely flexible, allowing for video and data to co-habitate on the fast-speed bus. The problem is that the introduction of new ports doesn't preclude the need to use old ports. Highpoint has a solution for those eSATA drive cases in the Thunderbolt 2 RocketStor 6324L host adapter for eSATA devices. Bridging devices for older connectors can be expensive, and sometimes its worth it to replace the enclosure instead -- does the value equation hold up for this speed-oriented adapter? Check our review to find out.
HighPoint Technologies has launched the "world's first" Thunderbolt 2-powered connectivity dock, the RocketStor 6351A. Each of the dual five-gigabit-per-second USB 3.0 ports and 6Gb per second eSATA port is powered by dedicated controller, allowing for peak speed for connected peripherals. Audio and Gigabit Ethernet ports round out connectivity options, with a pass-through Thunderbolt 2 port to daisy chain up to five devices downstream of the dock.
HighPoint has announced the release of its third-generation, dual-dedicated, 5GB-per-second USB 3.0 storage dock, the RocketStor 5422A. Capable of supporting any off-the-shelf SATA SSD and hard drive, the dock is compatible with any performance level from SATA 1 to SATA III, supports 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch form factors, and hard drives up to 6TB in capacity can be accommodated. The RocketStor 5422A supports common Power Management features provided by Windows and OS X operating systems, such as Sleep Mode and Hibernation. Priced at $60, the drive dock is now available.
Patriot has announced the launch of three new cases for iPad Air, iPad mini and iPhone 5 family, featuring various polycarbonate designs. The SmartShell has an integrated polycarbonate casing with a microfiber material screen cover, providing 360-degree coverage with elevated bezels for screen protection. The FlexFit is thinner, and offers more basic scratch protection. Featuring a "Smart Sleep" function, the iPad enters sleep mode when the cover is closed over, and reactivates upon opening. Both iPad cases' covers fold into a multi-position stands for various viewing and typing angles.
Storage and networking device maker Highpoint is adding a pair of new Thunderbolt devices to its product lineup. The storage connectivity vendor has debuted the eight-channel Rocketstor 6328L, along with the four-channel RocketStor 6324L eSATA and SAS Thunderbolt 2 adapters at this week's National Association of Broadcasters show.

Trade-up program expands in Europe
Smartphone users in France, Italy, and Spain will have until at least August of this year to trade in old iPhone, Windows Phone, or Android models at Apple Stores, and put the reward towards a new iPhone -- thanks to an expansion of Apple's trade-in program into those countries. The money given for the trade-in must be applied towards a new iPhone on a two-year payment plane, and traders must qualify under a credit check as part of the program. Interested customers can apply for the trade-in at their nearest Apple Store. http://bit.ly/1qPsldD

Apple rolls out Arabic version of Apple.com
Apple has rolled out a new version of its Apple.com website for Arabic language users in the United Arab Emirates. The site utilizes a right-to-left reading format where it has been updated, although the upgrade is still in progress with a number of page links still in the original English language left-to-right format. Of particular note is that the site debuts an all-new custom Arabic font created by the Tarek Atrissi Design agency, giving it a highly contemporary look and feel. The new support for Arabic on its host website follows the introduction of full support for right-to-left languages in iOS 9, and the addition of Arabic support to Siri late last year. http://apple.co/20JHGIM
Adobe previews Photoshop content-aware crop
Adobe has previewed a new 'content-aware crop' feature from the next version of its Photoshop CC. The new feature is similar to its 'content-aware fill' from the current version of Photoshop CC, and potentially saves users time when cropping photos in a way that might otherwise leave blank white space in the frame. Adobe's 'content-aware' tech automatically assesses the blank space and seamlessly fills the blank space with the nearest related content in the space when a photo is expanded or rotated without the need to manually clone that part of the image. The feature allows users to move a horizon by adding more sky or ground, change the aspect ratio by adding content around the edges of the image and fill in the corners of an image when rotated during a crop. Adobe says the feature is coming soon and will be automatically available to Creative Cloud subscribers. http://adobe.ly/20JDFEu
