Google has managed to oust traditional businesses to claim the top reputation among US companies, Harris said Monday. The search giant and Android maker pushed Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway down to fourth place. The study gave Google top marks for financial strength and its famously pampering work environment but also counted in the top five for the actual products, its overall vision, and its responsibility to the world.
A new Harris study on Tuesday provided a rare upset for Apple as it was outranked in two categories for the best-regarded brand by users. Motorola outranked it in a large January survey of Americans, giving the Droid creator a top score of 64.4 among phone makers where Apple managed 59.3. It wasn't even second place as the study also put HTC (60.6), Sony Ericsson (59.8), and even Nokia (59.5) slightly higher.
