BlueStacks offers GamePop Mini as free hardware option to subscribers

GamePop Mini occupies less space, costs less than standard GamePop

BlueStacks has announced that it will be releasing a second version of its GamePop Android-powered game console, shortly after it ships the original device. The GamePop Mini will have significantly smaller profile than the cube-shaped GamePop, and will be offered to customers at no charge alongside a subscription to its game service.

Console dev BlueStacks promises ability to run iOS apps via emulation

Tech reportedly avoids using Apple code

BlueStacks, the developer of the GamePop game console, says its hardware will be able to run iOS apps without using Apple code. The console reportedly uses a virtualization scheme known as "LookingGlass," allowing iOS games to run with few if any changes. BlueStacks CEO Rosen Sharma says he's not sure how Apple will react; iOS is a closed operating system, and iOS titles normally have to be distributed through the App Store.
