New owner Gree warns of 'poor player experience' and 'disruptions'
Third party social network scoring system for iOS and Android OpenFeint will soon be closing its doors. On December 14, "all OpenFeint network calls will be nonfunctional, which may result in service disruptions to your game and a poor player experience," new owner Gree claims.

GREE buys OpenFeint for 104m
Japanese mobile gaming social service provider GREE tonight bought OpenFeint for $104 million in a straight cash transaction. The deal gives GREE a connection to North America, Europe, and other areas it didn't previously serve as well as a reach of about 100 million total gamers, including Android and iOS gamers. They planned to build a "global gaming ecosystem" with faster upgrades but would also continue to develop their gaming networks in their respective countries, doubling the size of OpenFeint within this year.

DCM A-Fund giving 100m cash to Android services
Venture capitalists at DCM on Thursday unveiled an Android equivalent to the well-known iFund. A-Fund will give startups and other companies a total pool of $100 million to support apps, hardware, and services for Android. The funding will get help from Japanese carrier KDDI, local social network GREE, and Tencent, the founder of Chinese portal QQ.
