Ties to Sprint network may make service more useful
Mobile data provider FreedomPop has announced an expansion of its 3G coverage through support for Sprint. The change is effective immediately, and should enable nationwide access, solving some complaints about gaps in the carrier's service. The company sells cases and hotspots that enable otherwise Wi-Fi-only devices to get 3G/4G connections; each accessory comes with 500MB of free 4G data per month.

Home modem comes with 1GB free data per month
FreedomPop, maker of 4G WiMAX cases for iOS devices, is expanding into the home broadband Internet market, the company announced today. The firm that calls itself "America's new free Internet company" announced the pre-order availability of its new Hub Burst, a home modem providing free high-speed Internet for homes and small offices at speeds faster than typical DSL. FreedomPop, which has plans ranging from free to $29 per month, is currently accepting applicants to a beta program for the new service.

iPhone case slated for November
FreedomPop has launched the Freedom Sleeve Rocket, a promised case for the iPod touch. The accessory costs $99, but opens access to FreedomPop's 4G services, which run on Clearwire's WiMAX network. The first 500MB of data is free, but costs go up to $10 per GB after that threshold. The current case also only works with third- and fourth-generation Touches.

FreedomPop free wireless service goes live in beta form
FreedomPop has finally launched its promised free WiMAX wireless broadband services. Users will need to place a refundable deposit down on their choice of a wireless hotspot ($89), USB dongle ($49), iPhone 4/4S case ($99) or an iPod touch case ($99). In return, the first 500MB of data will be offered free, with a flat fee of $10 per GB promised should users exceed their free monthly allowance.

FreedomPop 4G iPhone case goes up for pre-order
FreedomPop is now taking pre-orders for its embedded WiMax and LTE iPhone 4/4S case, which first appeared in March. The company is the latest brainchild of Skype founder Niklas Zennstrom and aims to offer users ‘free wireless broadband’ using a freemium service model. Users who put down $99 for a case will get up to 500MB of free data per month in an iPhone accessory that offers users the ability to access 4G speeds, FaceTime video calls, as well as the ability to act as an external battery charger.

FreedomPop rumored to have hotspot case plans
More details have emerged about Skype founder Niklas Zennstrom’s latest project FreedomPop. It’s stated goal has been to bring ‘free wireless broadband’ to consumers by using a WiMax-based freemium service. While details had been sketchy, a ‘high-level’ source has revealed that the service will be offered integrated as a Wi-Fi hotspot in an iPhone 4/4S case.
