In a bid to raise its eco-friendly profile, LG today added the W2252TE to its Flatron LCD lineup. While relatively large at 22 inches, the screen consumes just 22W of average power, cutting well below the 40W of other displays the same size. The electronics giant also promises performance well above many of those same competitors with a TV-like 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and an unusual scaling mode for 4:3 images that claims to fill the horizontal space of the panel without resorting to distorting the image. Hoping to offer a new alternative to notebook owners and others forced to use only one or two displays, LG on Monday took the wraps from its Flatron LX206WU. Larger than its Samsung equivalent, the 20-inch screen shares the ability to output video using solely a USB connection rather than requiring DVI or VGA output from a video card. The technique allows as many as six of the wide LCDs to run from a single PC, with even notebooks supporting the extra space through a powered USB hub. [full story]<< first1last >>
