CrushFTP 4.8 was unveiled on Friday, providing several new features and bug fixes, including a few interface optimizations. The CrushUploader file browser has been refined, and can handle forms on multiple batches. CrushSQL users are able to request their password through email, and the "freespace" tag shows available drive space on a given volume. CrushFTP 4.8 is available starting at $30 for 10 concurrent users, with licenses available for up to unlimited users. [full story]

Developer David V. Kocher today unveiled Cyberduck 3, a major update to his FTP client software, offering users a number of new protocols and several other enhanced features. Cyberduck 3 now offers support for both Amazon Simple Storage Service and WebDAV protocols, as well as the ability to use Quick Look in the browser under Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Extendamac has released the first version of Flow, an original FTP program. The software is designed to streamline certain tools that normally fall outside of FTP clients; predominant is the inclusion of a code editor, which is used to write the likes of HTML, and includes features such as tabs, colored syntax and live previews. Along these lines Flow also boasts integrated QuickLook support, letting users preview the content of various files before formally downloading them. [full story]

CrushFTP.com has released the latest version of its file transfer utility, CrushFTP 4.6. The update adds automated server alerts for messages like low disk space, user bans, and exceeding a threshhold. The latest release also adds support for maximum upload file sizes, maximum download amounts per session/day/month, MagicDirectory plug-in enhancements, and better support for foreign characters from Windows XP. Tenon has released a new edition of iTools, bringing the program up to version 9. The software is a web-based graphical interface for administering web servers, and specifically handles Apache, DNS and FTP management. The greatest change to v9 is the inclusion of Apache 2.2.6, which is said to have better memory and disk use, support for file sizes above 2GB, and a new database interface architecture. The FTP component of the program now has a new File Manager, which lets admins assign clients to specific groups, which are then given permissions for uploading, renaming and deleting files. CrushFTP 4.5, a significant update to the full-scale FTP server by Ben Spink, adds rolling account expiration days, better support for iCal calendar publishing and subscribing, a new report to notify when new files have been added to a users directory, and SFTP enhancements. Additionally the WebInterface now supports adding items to a download basket so that you can then download the entire basket as a single .zip file. Several bug fixes are also included in this version. CrushFTP 4.5 is a free update to registered 4.x users.
