Elonex, a British tablet maker, has just unveiled six new eTouch-branded, Android-powered tablets with an aim to claim the lowest price. The devices range from the seven-inch, £119 (about $195) eTouch 760ET and top out with the £279 ($456), 10-inch, 3G-ready eTouch Blade 1043ET. All six run on the admittedly aging Android 2.2 version of Google's OS.
Elonex used the occasion of the UK's Gadget Show Live to unveil two iPhone-capable video docks and a rare color LCD reader. The iDock Aero gives the iPhone or iPod touch a protective case that doubles as a wireless video transmitter for a TV. It can stay in the shell to dock to an included cradle and uses the direct physical connection for video output.
UK-based Elonex International has partnered with the UK division of Borders to release its first 6-inch eBook Reader. Users can download ebooks via Borders' eBook Download Store. The reader is just over a third of an inch thick and weighs 6.5oz, with a battery life that is claimed to last 8,000 page turns. The e-Ink screen is said to be two and a half times sharper than a conventional display and can be red in direct sunlight. Users will have the ability to choose from one of eight font sizes and turn the reader horizontally for a wider viewing area.
