Second advisory in short time induces questions about durability, engineering
Hot on the heels of a service advisory on the Rebel T6s and T6i, Canon has issued one for the Canon EOS 5D Digital SLR camera. The advisory notes that the main mirror of the camera can detach from its adhesive mount, preventing images from being viewed through the viewfinder.
Image sensor of some Rebel T6s, T6i cameras covered with white dots
Some Canon EOS Rebel T6s and T6i DSLR cameras are reportedly suffering from problems with their image sensors. A number of the cameras have been found to have unfixable issues with the sensor, with a coating of white dots across the surface of the sensor causing a dark circular pattern to appear in photographs taken by the snapper in certain conditions.
New cameras intended for mid-range digital photography enthusiasts
Canon today announced the addition of two new DSLR cameras to its popular EOS Rebel lineup: the EOS Rebel T6s Digital SLR camera, and the EOS Rebel T6i Digital SLR. Featuring a newly-developed 24.2-megapixel Canon CMOS imaging sensor, both cameras deliver the highest resolution available amongst EOS models with an APS-C format sensor. Additionally, the cameras feature built-in Wi-Fi and near-field communication (NFC) capabilities.
Ultra wide-angle lenses, white Rebel SL1 shipping this June
Canon is adding two new ultra wide-angle lenses to its range of glass for its DSLR cameras, as well as a new color variant of an existing model. The EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM and the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM are accompanied by a version of the EOS Rebel SL1 DSLR it released in March last year, but this time it will be available in white.
Canon EOS Rebel SL1 takes on mirrorless and micro four thirds
Canon has taken the covers off the EOS Rebel SL1 Digital SLR, which it is calling the world’s smallest and lightest full-featured digital SLR camera. The new device weighs 14.36 ounces and is 25 percent smaller and 28 percent lighter than the EOS Rebel T4i as a point of comparison. Canon appears to be targeting the device at would-be mirrorless camera buyers or those interested in micro four thirds devices.
Canon EOS Rebel XS
Canon on Tuesday announced a new entry-level d-SLR: the EOS Rebel XS, which along with the recently introduced EOS Rebel XSi, replaces the popular Rebel XT and Rebel XTi cameras. The company has decided to rollout some of the advanced features in its XSi features, but left out others to reduce-costs and differentiate the new entry-level d-SLR. Sporting the company's new Digic III processor and a new live view mode, Canon's EOS Rebel XS has a 10.1 megapixel image sensor that is almost identical to that used in the Rebel XTi (short of the XSi's 12.2 megapixels, but higher than the 8MP on the original XT); the new Rebel XS also features a 2.5-inch LCD, which is larger than the 1.8-inch on the XT but smaller than 3.0-inch LCD on the XSi).
