May 25 - 11:40am EDT   ASUS' E-DT desktop take on the Eee PC has been given a final name, launch date, and specs, according to a leak sent to the Inquirer. Now just called the EBOX, the system is due to be unveiled at the major Computex show on June 3rd and will buck the Eee PC's past use of flash memory for storage: the stock model will carry a 160GB hard drive that provides it six times as much capacity as the 20GB Eee PC 900. The EBOX will also hold 2GB of RAM, or twice as much as the newer Eee notebooks. [full story]

March 29 - 11:20am EDT   ASUS' long-promised Eee PC desktop has finally been pictured, according to shots sent into Hot Hardware. Referred to by ASUS as the E-DT, the system is designed to do for Linux desktops what the Eee PC accomplished for notebooks: the new design is both low-cost, foregoing an optical drive, but also fashionable with a side imprint and even a stand that appears to float the desktop off the ground. March 26 - 8:30am EDT   ASUS on Wednesday confirmed previously rumored plans of a touchscreen Eee PC. Company sales VP Kevin Lin explains that at least some versions of the 8.9-inch Eee PC 900 will include the touch input as an alternative to the built-in trackpad. Software that might take advantage of the panel was not discussed. Some systems may also incorporate GPS support for navigation, Lin added, also noting that the local price for the systems was likely to reach $500. [full story]
