DuPont Building Innovations has joined the Power Matters Alliance (PMA) and is working with other PMA members on wireless charging solutions for smartphones and tablets that can be effectively integrated into worktops made with DuPont Corian solid surface, such as that found in the kitchen and bathroom.
The Novel Devices Laboratory at the University of Cincinnati has, in collaboration with a number of companies, developed "zero power" e-Design LCDs that can produce bright screens without requiring a large battery to power them. Together with Gamma Dynamics, DuPont and Sun Chemical, the breakthrough amplifies existing light that enters a screen.
DuPont Displays says it has developed a way of creating OLED televisions at high volumes and significantly lower their prices. The company relies on a custom-made printer from Japan's Dainippon Screen. It can print a 50-inch TV in less than two minutes, increasing the number of screens made and dropping their production costs. The high-performance displays have also been tested to be reliable in a way that OLEDs haven't been in the past, lasting up to 15 years.
