HP DreamScreen photo frame
A new digital photo frame from HP, the DreamScreen, is expected to arrive soon, as it was recently spotted passing FCC tests. The frame will be available with a 10.2-inch or 13.3-inch screen and respective resolutions of 800x480 and 1280x800. The unique feature is the device's ability to access photos from Facebook and Snapfish, while simultaneously streaming music from Pandora over its Wi-Fi or wired Internet connection.

SingTel intros HTC Dream
HTC will begin shipping the Android-powered HTC Dream handset to wireless provider SingTel which will offer it to subscribers in Singapore. In Australia, the phone will be sold by Optus, a carrier owned by SingTel. The first Android handset in either region, the Dream is identical to the T-Mobile G1 currently available in North America and therefore represents the G1's first official launch in a market other than the US and UK.

HTC Dream Confirmed as G1
HTC's Dream has had its full design and naming scheme exposed courtesy of a leak today from Android Guys. Now known as the T-Mobile G1, the phone exactly matches the design seen in videos and in Google's own prototype. The smartphone is dominated by its touchscreen but has a more ergonomic "banana" shape and a full QWERTY keyboard exposed through a Sidekick-style sliding display; a trackball replaces the traditional D-pad and lets owners use certain features one-handed.

ZN5 and Tocco on T-Mo Nov
T-Mobile is planning to escalate its competition significantly in November with not just its primarily iPhone rival the HTC Dream but also two other devices, a release schedule leak at TmoNews shows. The carrier is now believed to be picking up Motorola's ZINE ZN5 on November 3rd as one of its best camera phones, with a Kodak co-designed five-megapixel camera. It will lack support for T-Mobile's 3G but will have Wi-Fi for faster short range access. No word has been given as to whether it would support the provider's HotSpot@Home VoIP calling feature.

New Google Android SDK
Google this afternoon made a move to placate frustrated developers for its mobile phone platform by releasing a new beta of the Android SDK. Version 0.9 is the first kit available to those outside of Google's Developers Challenge and is described as the first to have largely settled the operating system. No major changes are expected from 0.9 until the finished 1.0 release, the company says.

HTC Dream at FCC
HTC's inaugural Google Android phone the Dream is now cleared for use in the US, a filing with the FCC shows. Listed as the DREA100, the device appears a match for past descriptions and will have not just Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but also the 1,700MHz UMTS support necessary for faster data speeds and better calls on T-Mobile USA's network, both of which should assist Android's data-heavy focus.

HTC Denies Android Delay
HTC on Friday denied claims of an Android phone delay that would push back to early 2009 the release of the cellphone maker's first phone using the Google mobile operating system. The company rejects assertions by Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry that both technical and minimum payment issues are affecting the release and insists that the phone is on track for a fall 2008 launch. The researcher's belief "does not match the facts," the firm says.

T-Mobile National 3G Soon
T-Mobile's 3G network could expand to the national level as quickly as this fall, according to reports. The fledgling high-speed cellular Internet access is claimed to launch on October 1st in T-Mobile's "top markets" and will be accompanied by multiple phones at or near launch: one of these will allegedly include the Google Android-based HTC Dream smartphone, which is already confirmed for T-Mobile in late 2008 but hasn't been tied to T-Mobile's 3G network until now.

Android Demo at D Conf
Google's Android operating system has been demonstrated with new changes and on what appears to be a prototype of the HTC Dream, according to news from Android Community and others attending the company's I/O Conference. The latest version of the mobile operating system shows subtle but iPhone-like interface touches that haven't previously been seen in earlier builds, including multiple home screens and a tray of permanently visible icons for commonly used apps. A built-in mail client (primarily intended for Gmail) also shares cosmetic similarities to Apple's own application.

1st Android phone for T-Mo
T-Mobile USA expects to carry at least one phone based on Google's Android platform by the end of the year -- and may start with the HTC Dream, according to sources. Company broadband head Joe Sims says he has seen a prototype of one of the Linux-based phones and was "impressed" by the device. He notes that the phone is poised to ship in the fourth quarter of the year and that it will be part of a larger shift at T-Mobile towards open devices that should include more than one Android device.

HTC Dream Leak
Two of HTC's more anticipated phones are likely to have been spotted today courtesy of a photo displayed in a forum post. Asking if viewers can identify all the devices, a user shows a large, QWERTY slider device (left) that appears to closely resemble the Dream; the device is large enough to match the description and includes both the large screen and hardware controls previously suggested before. The phone interface also appears different than normal and may hint at the Dream's use of Google Android for its operating system.

HTC Dream Possible News
HTC will hold a press announcement that may signal its first concrete details for its Android-based Dream cellphone, according to a message sent to members of the press, including SlashGear. With details remaining vague, the Taiwan company's London event will introduce the "next wave of HTC innovation" and promises to be more significant than announcements made at events so far this year, which have largely been minor upgrades to the Shift and Touch DUAL as well as minor new phones such as the P3470.

HTC Dream Leak
Information about HTC's first phone based on Google's Android has slipped out, says a source reportedly familiar with the details. Confirming an earlier nickname, the device will be known as the HTC Dream and will have a large touchscreen but also a QWERTY keypad hidden underneath; accordingly, the phone will be large at five inches long and three inches wide. Just enough controls will sit underneath the screen to offer extra Internet navigation features.
