Because it currently -- and will continue to -- produces more power from alternative energy sources than it needs for present operations, Apple has created a shell company, "Apple Energy LLC" run from its Cupertino headquarters to allow it to sell any excess power generation from its US solar farms back to the grid, with some latitude in the filing to allow for future expansion of solar power generation, as would be expected. The wholly-owned subsidiary, registered in Delaware, may also allow Apple to take advantage of present and future tax shelters and incentives for alternative-energy production.
Apple is planning to move its Bellevue Square store in Washington to another space within the same mall, says ifoAppleStore. The current location is on the ground floor, and launched in 2003 with about 4,600 square feet. The new shop will reportedly take up twice the area of the old one, a feat accomplished by moving to a space on the second floor previously occupied by three different businesses.
Apple has won a minor procedural victory in its legal battle with Nokia. One lawsuit, in which the two companies are each asserting seven patents against one another, is now being transferred from the Western District of Wisconsin to the District of Delaware. Delaware is already home to two Apple/Nokia cases, into which the Wisconsin one could potentially be folded as a result of the latest court ruling.
