Lenovo intros Android tablets with Netflix
Lenovo on Wednesday formally tipped its hand and unveiled its first pure mobile tablets. The IdeaPad K1 and ThinkPad Tablet together have the familiar NVIDIA Tegra 2 and 10-inch, 1280x800 screens of most challengers but are the first Android 3 tablets anywhere to support Netflix: both add DRM that isn't in Android 3.1 itself and can not only stream the video service but rent movies outright from Google Videos. The Netflix app should be available as an update by the time the tablets ship and will be followed by an upgrade slightly after launch for buying movies.

RIM deal for DataViz official
RIM today confirmed a rumor from the weekend that it had acquired much of DataViz in a deal that could shake up professional mobile apps. The company in a statement said it had bought only some of the company's assets but was hiring most of the Documents To Go developer's staff to support the BlackBerry. It wouldn't confirm the $50 million asking price as it was "not material" enough to legally require disclosure.

RIM buyout of DataViz gives Documents To Go
A leak suggests RIM may have quietly snapped up DataViz in a move that could shake up productivity apps on mobile devices. Multiple sources for CrackBerry say the BlackBerry maker acquired DataViz for $50 million. Although not publicly acknowledged by RIM, the LinkedIn profiles of multiple DataViz staff members have recently shown job switches to the Canadian company.

Universal app works on iPad and iPhone
DataViz has launched an update to its productivity suite on the App Store, Documents to Go. The latest version now works as a universal app, providing an additional interface that takes advantage of the larger display and higher resolution of the iPad.

App now enables editing of DOC and XLS files
DataViz has launched the latest version of its Documents To Go app for the iPhone and iPod touch. Following through with the company's earlier promises, v2.0 adds full support for creating and editing Excel documents. The previous release limited users to just viewing the spreadsheet content.

MS Nokia Office Tomorrow
Microsoft this evening said it and Nokia together would hold a conference call late tomorrow morning to unveil an "alliance" between the two firms. The two aren't specific about details. As the call will be led by Microsoft Business president Stephen Elop as well as Nokia's executive devices VP Kai Öistämö, however, it's the news may involve the addition of Office apps to Nokia's smartphones, especially its Eseries business models.

Documents To Go for iPhone
DataViz displayed a public beta version of its Documents To Go application for the iPhone at the GSMA, according to Macitynet. Previously only available for Windows mobile phones and the Palm OS, Documents To Go enables users to modify Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint document from their phone. The beta version for the iPhone allows for editing of Microsoft Word documents using the displayed virtual keyboard, and includes copy and paste functions. People can also customize the color of the text.
