Company to use pressure for 'innovation'
Apple has hired a DC lobbying outfit to exert influence on the federal government, according to Politico. Official disclosures are said to reveal that the firm of Fierce, Isakowitz and Blalock started working for Apple on February 1st. What issues Apple may want to push politicians on has not been revealed beyond a broad category of "innovation."

Apple gear bought using stolen credit info
The US government has indicted 27 people suspected of belonging to a fraud ring targeting Apple Stores, reports say. The group is accused of making fake credit cards using stolen data bought from the Internet, and in turn fraudulently buying $1 million or more in goods from Apple Stores in 13 states. Products like Macs and gift cards were fenced to bring in cash.

Georgetown outlet long in development
Apple is set to launch two more US retail stores this weekend. The most important of these may be the Georgetown location, the company's first in the Washington, DC area. The outlet has had a troubled history, due to Apple plans not matching the look of surrounding historical buildings. It will finally open its doors at 5PM on Friday, June 18th. Regular hours will run from 10AM to 9PM most days, and 11AM to 7PM on Sunday. The shop is at 1229 Wisconsin Avenue NW.

Sydney, Edmonton, Tacoma stores imminent
In an unusual confluence, three new Apple Stores are set to open over the weekend. The most prominent is the Bondi location in Sydney, Australia, which will open at 8AM Friday morning at 213 Oxford Street. Much of the store's event schedule revolves around the iPad, which will see a simultaneous Australian debut. One iPad workshop is scheduled for 9AM, and several more are scheduled for subsequent days. The store will also host regular concerts, beginning with the Beautiful Girls on Sunday afternoon.
