Taiwan, Malaysia, others cited as launch countries
Brazil and Russia have officially entered the ranks of countries getting the iPhone 4S on December 16th. In Brazil, the local division of carrier Claro has put up a marketing page singling out the date. Some local shops have reportedly been selling the 4S since last week, but unofficially and at extremely high prices, approaching $2,000 for a 16GB model.
Subscriber base actually larger than C Spire
Regional carrier Claro Puerto Rico has launched the iPhone 4S. The carrier is, unusually, offering a 16GB 4S for as little as $100 under a two-year contract. 32GB costs $200, while 64GB is $300. Plans cost between $65 and $85 a month, offering data between 250MB and an unlimited amount. In all cases voice and texts are unlimited.
Dell Mini 3 confirmed for Brazil, China
Dell today formally entered the smartphone race by launching the Mini 3. The full-touchscreen phone depends on a customized version of Android and will have different features based on the region. While most details aren't available, the China Mobile version will be limited to EDGE data but use the government-supported OPhone interface and app store. Other countries should get localized 3G and should also have Wi-Fi as well.
