Adobe reintroduces cameras to compatibility list

Adobe has released a final beta version of its RAW photo processor updated for Photoshop CS5, Camera Raw 6.1. The plug-in allows Photoshop to process and prepare RAW camera captures, which is proprietary image data that bypasses typical in-camera processing to allow advanced photographers to run the processing later under ideal circumstances. The plug-in provides Photoshop users with a way to adjust a RAW image's white balance, exposure and sharpness, or fix distortion, vignetting and contrast, with much more adjustment latitude than working from a camera JPG.

Leaf launches "fastest" medium format camera back

40MP back features capture rate under 0.8 second

Leaf has introduced a new medium-format camera back to the Aptus-II line, the Aptus-II 8. The camera back features a 40-megapixel resolution (7360x5562 pixels) and has a capture rate of under 0.8 seconds per frame, making it capable of a sustainable burst of more than 60 full resolution images per minute. The 1.73x1.3in (44x33mm) CCD has a 12 f–stop dynamic range and an 80-800 ISO sensitivity range. The Aptus-II series are the only medium format camera backs to use touchscreens, in this case a high contrast, 2.36x2.76in LCD.

Apple updates RAW support, fixes Aperture SlideShow bug

SlideShow update recommended for Aperture 3

Following on the heels of the Aperture 3 introduction, Apple on Tuesday also released maintenance updates for RAW compatibility and a SlideShow bug. Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 3.0 extends RAW support for Aperture 3 and iPhoto 09 to include several additional cameras and formats such as Canon's PowerShot S90, sRAW, and mRAW; Leica's D-LUX 4; and Panasonic's Lumix DMC-G1, DMC-GH1 and DMC-LX3.

Adobe posts Lightroom 2.6, Camera RAW/DNG Converter 5.6

Adds support for popular camera models

Adobe has announced three new software updates, Lightroom 2.6, Photoshop Camera Raw 5.6 and DNG Converter 5.6. Originally posted as trial updates for community testing, the final versions offer added RAW file support for 20 popular camera models including the Nikon D3s, Canon EOS 7D, and Leaf Aptus II 5, as well as DNG support for Leica M9 and Ricoh GXR camera models.

Rawzor brings RAW image compression to Mac

App achieves 20-60 percent compression rates

Rawzor has updated its lossless RAW image-compression utility with support for Mac OS X. The self-titled Rawzor software, in Beta version 0.45, delivers compression rates of 20-60 percent with no change to image quality or metadata. Rawzor promises a complete restoration of the original file on decompression, and Rawzor has an SDK that allows independent RAW processing software to open the compressed .rwz files. The new Mac-compatible version has a core engine fully ported for Mac.

Adobe ships Camera Raw

Adobe Labs has announced the availability of release candidates for v5.5 of its Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop, along with an update to the company's DNG Converter. The latest version of Camera Raw expands support for several new cameras including the Nikon D300s, Nikon D3000, Olympus E-P1 and Panasonic DMC-FZ35.

RAW file support is the headline feature in Kepmad's ImageBuddy 4 update. The photo printing application now includes optional support for camera RAW formats using Apple’s Core Image rendering engine. Imagebuddy is a digital image layout program that expands on iPhoto's limited printing options and supports Aperture as well. It offers options for cropping, resizing and rotating photos, and provides layout and design capabilities too.

Adobe on Tuesday released an update to its Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in. Adobe Camera Raw 5.2, available as a free download, extends raw file support to an additional seven camera models, including the Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Panasonic DMC LX3. According to the company, the update provides several new enhancements including the Targeted Adjustment Tool for on-image refinements and output sharpening for print or screen output. Also, users now have the ability to create a snapshot of all adjustments made to an image as a bookmark for future reference.

Adobe today announced updates to Photoshop Lightroom and the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in. Available immediately as free upgrades for Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS4 users, the releases provide added raw file support for 15 digital cameras including the Nikon D90, Nikon D700, Canon EOS 50D and Canon EOS 1000D. The Lightroom 2.1 update also includes improvements to Photoshop integration, Web module stability for Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit operating systems, performance with 64-bit Mac OS X 10.5 Macintosh computers, and Keyword migration from Lightroom. Apple update extends RAW for iPhoto, Aperture 2

Apple on Wednesday continued its slew of updates with the release of its Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.1, which extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2 and iPhoto ’08 for the following cameras: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi/Kiss Digital x2/450D, Epson R-D1, Leaf AFi 7, Leaf AFi 6, Leaf AFi 5, Pentax K200D, and Pentax K20D. Apple also released critical security updates for Mac OS X Tiger and a massive Mac OS X 10.5.3 Leopard update that addressed dozens of security bugs.

Adobe apologize for issues

Adobe on Thursday released updates to correct for issues found in Lightroom 1.4 and Camera Raw 4.4 and apologized for the issues caused by the update. The Lightroom 1.4.1 and Camera Raw 4.4.1 updates provide all of the changes included in the original Lightroom 1.4 and Camera Raw 4.1 releases but also include corrections for EXIF metadata, DNG conversion, and JPEG artifact issues that were introduced with the latest updates.
