Google's web-based Calendar application should now support iCal integration, the company has announced. The feature comes by way of support for the CalDAV protocol, which in turn allows access to a calendar via WebDAV. Users of the Google app should now be able to edit a calendar in iCal and have it sync with their online schedule, as well as vice versa. Changes are applied whenever iCal is able to go online, or a person signs into Calendar. [full story]

CommuniGate Systems has added CalDAV support to its Unified Communications platform, enabling users to share scheduling resources and calendar events to boost collaboration as well as productivity. The standards-based software works across multiple Calendar standards -- such as iCalendar, MAPI, WebCal, and CalDAV -- for seamless interoperability of clients and organizational scheduling services, according to the company. Kerio is showcasing Kerio MailServer 6.5 with a new integrated CalDAV server at this week's MacWorld expo in San Francisco. Kerio MailServer is a crossplatform email and collaboration server for small to medium organizations that installs on Mac, Windows, and Linux. The new CalDAV server helps tackle the problems of scheduling meetings between users that have different calendaring applications. Kerio MailServer 6.5 enables iCal 3 users on Mac OS X Leopard to access free/busy information and shared calendars not only from other iCal calendars but also from Microsoft Outlook, Entourage, and Kerio WebMail and vice versa.
