Apple CEO Tim Cook has shed light on the company's smartphone strategy and his own take on the competition, namely Google's Android OS. In an interview with Bloomberg, the executive dismisses the threat posed by the inevitable "junk part of the market" against the company's new iPhone 5s and 5c handsets that were introduced last week.
Sony Ericsson reportedly announced that it intends to become the world's top producer of Android-based smartphones, according to a BusinessWeek report. CEO Bert Nordberg claims the company has established a 17 percent share in the Android market, while the leader currently holds a 23 percent stake.
BusinessWeek on Thursday unveiled its InfoTech 100 ranked list of the worldís top performing companies, with Amazon again claiming first place ahead of Apple and BlackBerry maker RIM. Amazonís reign continues from last year, as it vaulted from 23rd place to first, putting it ahead of wireless giant Nokia, Google, and Microsoft. Apple climbed four spaces from sixth place, based on its financial performance and revenue growth.
BusinessWeek today released its list of "The 25 Most Innovative Companies" in the world, with Apple, Google, and Toyota taking the top three spots, respectively. The publication states the list is based on companies who nurture cultures that value creative people in good economic times and bad, as well as those that develop a diversified stock portfolio, and display independent though for corporate strategy, despite "finger-wagging" from analysts.

The Seagate 3TB class-action hard drive lawsuit has been expanded to more devices. The expanded suit, filed today, now includes Seagate's Barracuda 3TB Hard Disk Drive,¬†Desktop HDD 3TB, Backup Plus 3TB External Hard Disk¬†Drive,¬†GoFlex 3TB External Hard Disk Drive, or any other Seagate hard drive with model number ST3000DM001. The law firm, Hagens Berman, is seeking information from consumers such as time in service, purchase price, and the nature of any drive received in return from Seagate as a replacement for a failed unit. http://bit.ly/1Pc34Cq
