Apple-acquired Burstly sending shutdown notices to SkyRocket clients

Tech could be rolled into iAd

Apple-owned Burstly has started sending out notices to customers of its SkyRocket monetization service, saying the product's publishing and SDK license agreements will end in 90 days. SkyRocket is meant to simplify advertising for developers by hooking apps into multiple ad partners, reward systems, cross-promotions, and demographic targeting. The company isn't saying why it's terminating licenses, but the reason is believed to be connected to Apple's general policy towards acquisitions, which is to shut off services to outside parties.

TestFlight suddenly drops Android support

(Updated with Apple confirmation) Apple may have bought out Burstly, the developer of the beta-testing platform TestFlight, sources tell TechCrunch. Without any formal announcements, the company has suddenly stopped taking new customers for its SDK, and told people it will be discontinuing its Android product. The only way people have learned about the changes is through exchanges with @testflightapp, the company's Twitter account. Even then, Burstly has been asking developers to submit email forms to get answers.
