So, given that we too busy doing rolling deals posts for you guys to record anything on Black Friday, likewise we didn't post an episode on Cyber Monday. Expect that to happen to the podcast on other major and Internet holidays, like Christmas, July Fourth, Guy Fawkes Day, and Talk Like a Pirate Day. Okay, actually we might do a TLAP edition of the podcast this year, but that's not till September. For Episode 43, we covered a bunch of different things, ranging from the arrival (at last) of CarPlay in actual cars you might buy to the latest rumors, the joy of BroForce, and much, much, more.
A pair of new studies -- including one from the notoriously Apple-averse Consumer Reports -- have shown that despite a lack of official Apple "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday" promotions, its mobile products from notebooks to smartphones are widely considered to be the best, and saw industry-beating growth with consumers during the holiday as a result. In particular, the iPad line saw a spike in activations of new purchases, while MacBook owners turned out to be far more satisfied with their purchase than Windows notebook owners.
Apple on Wednesday added another 40 US banks and credit unions to its list of supporting financial partners and card issuers, bringing the total for the United States to 792, and the worldwide total cracking 800 for the first time, at 809 (American Express in each country is counted as a separate entity, and the single supported store loyalty card, Kohl's is included in the US total). Despite this, a new study by InfoScout shows that usage of Apple Pay dropped by nearly 50 percent on Black Friday.
Two studies from Custora and Adobe have confirmed that Apple's iOS platform again dominated US mobile e-commerce sales from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, although the total percentage was down slightly from last year. Black Friday sales from mobile devices accounted for a total of nearly 40 percent this year, jumping to 39.3 percent, up five percent. Mobile sales for the entire long weekend made up nearly 32 percent of online orders.

What Christmas, Black Friday or Thanksgiving presents do you get for your family? We don't care. Partly because William Gallagher and Malcolm Owen are in the UK where for some bizarre reason Thanksgiving isn't a big deal. Also, speaking of big deals, Black Friday has come to Britain but this year one big retailer has said they're not doing it. So it's just Christmas left and frankly we can shop for the family later.
Apple's online services endured another outage overnight, with a number of services becoming unusable for over an hour. Apple's system status page advises some users were affected by downtime for "multiple store services" and "multiple iCloud services" at around 10pm EST for just over an hour, with all users affected by a slightly briefer Maps issue for approximately half an hour at roughly the same time.
