Harman brings Becker Map Pilot navigation to MBs
Electronics maker Harman this week announced it will work with Mercedes-Benz to bring a flexible navigation system to the German vehicles. It will feel like a built-in, factory issued system as it will communicate with the car's controls and display, but be removable and allow for software updates. Called Becker Map Pilot, the system will make its debut in the SLK and C-Class cars.
Becker Crocodile and Z 201
GPS device maker Becker today provided full details of two GPS units that have been part of its demo at the IFA technology show. The Crocodile earns its name through a tire-tread like rubber housing that protects it against impacts, improves its water resistance and also makes for better grip. Motorcycle riders in particular should find it useful versus more fragile units, Becker argues.
Becker TA 7827 GPS Unit
Becker has revealed that it will expand its GPS offerings in the US to include a new widescreen model with an above-average feature set: the Traffic Assist 7827 will come from Europe with the same 4.3-inch touch LCD but will be specifically tailored to North American conditions: a relatively large 2GB SD card will hold maps and points of interest not just for Canada and the continental US but also Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The mapping is detailed enough to include highway details and will recommend not just the overall route but the right lane.
