Astak's socially connected webcam tested

Astak's Mole is a remote controlled network camera with a twist: it integrates with a variety of social networks. Astak has thrown every possible feature into the Mole except for perhaps the proverbial kitchen sink. With an asking price of $279, the Mole theoretically offers a lot of features at a fairly attractive price point. But long list of features is one thing; a great user experience is entirely another. We'll see in our review if the Mole delivers both.

Astak intros Mole computer camera

Astak has announced the release of a standalone computer camera, the Mole on Wednesday. The wireless Wi-Fi camera can upload videos to YouTube, detect motion and alert users via Twitter or e-mail, and let them see what it sees via an iPhone or web browser. It can also record what it sees onto SD cards.

Astak's 5-Inch Pocket PRO eBook reader released

Astak intros 5-inch reader

Astak on Friday announced its new 5-inch Pocket PRO eBook reader is now available for pre-order. The device supports more than 20 formats thanks in part to Adobe's permission to install Adobe Digital Editions firmware on the reader. This means users can now read DRM-protected PDF files in addition to public domain titles and copy-protected PDFs. Any non-copyrighted eBook from the Internet can be viewed, including public domain titles.
