Pricing for a new Intel Cedar Trail-based Acer netbook have popped up in Europe. The Acer Aspire One D270 (AOD270) is a 10.1-inch said to be running the newer, faster 1.6GHz Atom N2600 processor. The D270 is also believed to come equipped with 1GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive. It will be available with either a three-cell or six-cell battery.
Acer has quietly given its Aspire One 522 and 722 models a specification refresh. The 522 is a 10-inch netbook, while the 722 is an 11.6 sub-notebook both of which were powered by AMD’s 1GHz C-50 processors and Radeon 6250 integrated graphics on launch. A recent check now shows that they have been upgraded to AMD’s new C-60 processor and AMD’s latest integrated graphics processor, the Radeon HD 6290.

ASUS' MacBook Air-inspired Eee PC X101 is now slated to get a quick launch but also possibly a processor switch, tips hinted at on Monday. The ultrathin netbook is now poised to arrive in July, just a month over it was shown. To get to the $199 price for the MeeGo version, though, Digitimes heard it was using a single-core 1.33GHz Atom N435 and not the previously mentioned dual-core 1.5GHz Atom N670.
Acer is reportedly set to introduce an updated version of its Aspire One 721 netbook, which will carry the model number 722. Both variants also share an 11.6-inch display with 1366x768 resolution, though the new model offers stylish lid with a liquid appearance.
Toshiba’s Fusion-based NB550D is currently not slated to head to the US. The netbook is one of the first netbooks to feature the AMD Fusion C-50 1GHz dual-core Ontario chip with integrated Radeon 6250 graphics. US users will now have to rely on Acer shipping the Aspire One 522 in order to get their hands on a netbook shipping with an AMD Fusion configuration.
Some of Acer's unveilings from CES came closer to reality today as its Aspire One 522 came up for pre-order at Amazon. The company's first netbook based on AMD's Fusion should sell for $330 and ships in three to five weeks. Amazon's edition comes in a single trim with the 1GHz dual-core C50 chip, Radeon HD 6250 graphics and a 250GB hard drive.
Intel today posted record results for the fall that nonetheless illustrated a pronounced effect from the iPad and other tablets. Its net profit was up 48 percent year-to-year and 10 percent sequentially, to $3.4 billion, but was owed almost exclusively to its large-scale server group and investments. Its revenues for both Atom chips and its regular processors were both flat compared to the summer.
An upcoming notebook from Acer was leaked this week. Called the Aspire One 522, it sports AMD's dual-core C-50 Ontario chip from the Fusion family and shares the chassis first seen on the Aspire One AOD255. The only visual differences are the textured touchpad buttons and the new color.
