Intel, Arizona State develop user-sensing remote
A project headed up by Magdiel Galan at the Arizona State University along with colleagues at Intel Labs may lead to remote controls for TVs that can detect the user and customize access to content as necessary. The researchers used volunteers to gauge how a certain person holds the specially designed remote, with accelerometer readings taken every 100 nanoseconds. One in five volunteers also entered a PIN into the remote to identify themselves.
