The Good

  • Modular design. Mix and match colors. Adds minimal thickness to the iPod nano. Comes with VakWrap cable management and good screen protection. Designed for style and scratch protection only.

The Bad

  • Side seals don't close perfectly, leaving tiny gaps Not made to protect your iPod from more serious accidents.

We are very spoiled when it comes to choosing iPod cases these days. The massive numbers of unique and stylish designs are available in any style, shape, and color that meets your fancy. The offering below is a new case that is about to hit the market and I think many of you are going to like this, but initially, it seems it will only be available in Europe.

Two piece jigsaw-type case

I've been testing the iVak N-Type 2 from Vakaadoo for about a month. Designed for the 2GB iPod nano, the N-Type features a soft feel exterior and is available in seven colors.

Inside the box you get the trademark VakWrap, lanyard, iVak Key, and Click Wheel protective film. The VakWrap is a triangular-shaped rubber accessory designed to wrap your earphones, so that it hangs at any length without tangling. You use the iVak Key to split open the case easily.

The 2-piece case design, snaps together like a jigsaw puzzle piece and stays securely attached to your iPod. The modular design lets you mix and match various colors of the case by swapping out the front and back portions, essentially allowing for a multitude of case colors.

The exposed top and bottom of the case allows for easy access to the data port, headphone jack, and the hold switch. Stick-on film protects the Click Wheel and the screen is protected by a plastic shock and scratch-resistant window.

Minimal fuss and minimal mess

In keeping with the design of the 2G Nano to be super slim with rounded edges, the N-Type hugs tightly to the Nano. The plastic shell is covered in a smooth liquid rubber finish. It's a perfect fit and adds minimally to the overall dimensions and weight. This is a discreet case for those who want to protect their iPod, but don't want to sacrifice the slick look.

This case is all about minimal fuss. It's back to basics with the N-Type and the formula that Vakaadoo uses for their designs is one that should be very popular with 2G iPod nano owners.

Please note that the pictures shown may not reflect the shipping product. The iVak N-Type 2 should be available to order very soon on the site.
