Scrapbooking is a popular family hobby used to create artistic presentations of otherwise boring family photo albums. It is common for parents to purchase stickers, stamps, special scissors, and other supplies specifically designed to use with those boxes or drawers full of photographs. There are many forums, web sites, magazines, and articles focused solely on products and designs for photo album pages. Predesigned template albums often suffer from frames that don't fit your pictures, canned text that has little to do with your reality, not to mention stickers whose glue lets go after only a few months. Don't get us wrong, some people have designed some magnificent pages, but it isn't always easy. Enter the digital age, in which glue and paper trash mess doesn't exist.

Computer Scrapbooking

iRemember is a simple to use photo album page creation tool for Mac OS X. You can place one of their 100 professionally designed backgrounds on your page or create one of your own. Template page sizes are as big as 12 x 12, which is a standard scrapbook size page. Simply drag and drop photos from your desktop or iPhoto and place them on the picture frame of your choosing without affecting your original file. The frame crops away everything outside the frame's opening, which is not the standard way you expect a photo editing program to act. Photos are resized with a scale slider control in the Inspector Window. You can add more framed photos to your page in whatever size and shape you like.

Clip Art Galore

Enhance your pages with some of the 3,000 pieces of clip art along with an appropriate quotation, poem or personal comment. Pages can be saved as PDFs through the preferences in the Page Setup dialog. The best part is the photos won't fall off due to poor glue, text stays with the photos, and you have a stunning page to place in your photo album, send via email, or post it on a web page.

You can even create cards or invitations with iRemember. In the bottom half of a page place a frame and drop in a new baby photo. On the top half place the new baby's name, date and time of birth, height, and weight. Under the file menu drag down to iRemember clip art. Do a search for a stork. Drag your stork on to your card. Click on everything in the upper part of the page and go to the inspector. In the inspector rotate everything 180 degrees. You are ready to print out. Fold your printed card in quarters and send it to your friends. It is that easy! Chances are, if you can do it on a scrapbook page, you can do it in iRemember. Do it faster, easier, and with a much better result.
