The Good

  • The Jam Jacket protects the parts of the iPod shuffle it covers and adds a personal touch with color. The Jam Caps add more whimsical protection.

The Bad

  • Sand and grit can get trapped underneath the skin, and it could be longer for better protection. The lanyards attached to the Jam Caps don’t inspire the same confidence as the Apple lanyard.

The iPod shuffle is so light and jamming that you want to take it everywhere, but its white plastic shell is easily marred when tossed around. Digital Lifestyle Outfitters offers two solutions to protect the iPod shuffle, the Jam Jacket and the Jam Cap. The Jam Jacket is a soft silicone sleeve that slides over your Shuffle, exposing only the wheel and slider. It protects most of your Shuffle from bumps, scratches, and even occasional spills. The partially detachable USB cover stays secured to the Jam Jacket at all times. It also minimizes slipping when the Shuffle is placed on slippery surfaces, like a dashboard. The silicone jacket feels great in your hand and reduces the chance of dropping the Shuffle. Even better, the Jam Jackets come in colored multi-packs with Purple, Glow Green and Frosty Clear, so you can change your Shuffle to suit your mood or outfit. One drawback is that it can trap food crumbs or debris that may fall through the end, slider, or wheel opening.

Jam Cap

The 5-pack silicone Jam Caps work with the Jackets to cover your Apple lanyard cap. You can totally customize your look. Five different gummy colors (Purple, Glow Green, Frosty Clear, Cobalt Blue and Orange) allow you to match and mix with the Jam Jackets. The lanyards are thinner Apple’s, plus the closure did not feel secure.

This colorful iPod shuffle gear is more fun and fashion than truly protective, but offers a good alternative to Apple’s ubiquitous white.
