MacFamilyTree 5.6 updates family charting software
Synium has released its newest version of MacFamilyTree. The application enables users to research their lineage and create family trees that can be displayed in a variety of styles. Version 5.6 improves performance by using multiple processors or cores to complete tasks faster. MacFamilyTree 5.6 also includes a new subtree viewing feature, which shows partial subtrees within a database.

If pictures of a users ancestors are available, the new version of MacFamilyTree displays the image in its 3D tree view mode automatically. The new version also features an improved palette that allows users to jump from near ancestors to descendants.

MacFamilyTree includes Ancestor Charts and Fan Charts, Virtual Globe Statistics, a Virtual Tree view, and a Timeline view. The application gives users access to over 1.5 million names and coordinates for locations around the world. The program can import and export GEDCOM files, which are compatible with other genealogy applications.

MacFamilyTree 5.6 is available from the Synium online store for $50. Registered users of version 4.x or earlier can upgrade to the new version for $25. Version 5.x owners can upgrade for free.
