Eye-Fi, the makers of wireless memory cards for digital cameras, has announced an iPhone application that allows Eye-Fi card owners to upload their photos either directly to the computer through a home Wi-Fi network, or to one of 25 online photo sharing and social networking websites. Any photos taken on an iPhone can be automatically tagged with information on where the picture was taken; users can then view these geotagged photos on a digital map and organize photos by location.Eye-Fi's SD memory cards enable allow compatible cameras -- those with any standard SD slot -- to send images to a computer or directly to the Internet when connected to WiFi network -- wireless, without connecting the camera to a computer. The company sells SD cards ranging from $79 - $129, depending on capacity and features.
The software will be available for preview at Macworld Expo at Booth No. 3315 ; however, a release date for the free software was not noted.
