iPhone apps: AutoAlert Tracker, CompassApp, OffLeash |
AutoAlert Tracker (free) is a real time GPS tracking service that can be used to track an iPhone online via the AutoAlert web based control center. Current location can be sent to the control center from the iPhone which can be used to monitor the phones location and where it has been. CompassApp (free) is a GPS-based compass that can calculate which direction a user is traveling in. The application uses the iPhone 3G's built-in GPS to calculate a users Latitude and Longitude values, speed in km/h or miles per hour, the angle which the user is traveling at and the direction. In order for the application to obtain reliable information the user must be traveling faster than walking speed.
Off Leash (free) is an application that can find the Off Leash Dog Parks closest to the users current location. The application pinpoints the users current location then provides them with the five closets dog parks along with a map and driving directions. The application currently only has listings for dog parks in the US but hopes to expand to other countries in the coming months.
PinPoint Me ($3) helps users to share their current location or mark it on a map for later reference. After the application has located the user this location can be emailed as a Google Map image which can be accompanied by a custom message.
Attractions ($1) helps users to find unique and entertaining venues close to their current location. The application uses the iPhone's built-in GPS to locate the user and then searches for any points of interest in that general location.
