SolidThinking offers design program free for students

SolidThinking has announced a free personal-use version of its industrial design software, solidThinking 7.6, for architecture, industrial design, and fine arts students. The program allows users to create 3D models that can be exported into HTML pages, while offering capabilities such as animation, photo and sketch rendering, reverse engineering, and QuickTime VR movie output. The "sTudent" version will work on Windows or Mac platforms and retains all of the same features and functions as the commercially-licensed variant.

In order to obtain the free program, students must visit booth 3320 at the Macworld Conference & Expo with proof of their college or university status. Qualified applicants will then receive a certificate that can be used to download the program. Each license will stay valid through the academic year. After the license expires, students can renew for another school year or apply for a 60-day post-graduate copy.
