SanDisk has updated the SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise USB flash drive, adding cross-platform security support for Mac OS X and Windows. Users can log-in or shut down access to the encrypted partition, manage passwords, or edit contact information, languages, and other preferences. The drive protects data with hardware-based 256-bit AES encryption and password protection. Users can also configure the device to enter a "lockdown" mode after a set number of incorrect password attempts. SanDisk claims transfer speeds of up to 24MB per second while reading data, and write speeds up to 20MB per second. Each drive is packaged with Central Management and Control (CMC) software that manages the drive settings for password administration, data backup, and drive termination if the device is lost or stolen.
The Cruzer Enterprise is available in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB variants. Existing owners can download a firmware update to add Mac OS X support.
