Eltima Software has released SyncMate 1.4, an update to its synchronization program that enables information to be shared between Macs and pocket PCs or smartphones. New features include a mail plug-in that allows users to sync mail between a computer and mobile device, and a to-do plug-in to synchronize tasks scheduled in calendars. The update also offers an improved interface and several bug fixes.
SyncMate comes in two versions; the first is a free edition offering an actions log, SMS reader, and device info plug-ins -- in addition to contacts and calendar sync. The "Expert" edition adds mail, to-do, call history, and SMS manager plug-ins, along with expanded sync capabilities for iPhoto, iTunes, bookmarks, folders, notes, and time.
Both SyncMate 1.4 editions can be obtained directly from the company's website, with the basic version available for free, while the expert version is priced at $40. Customers can download the programs or choose to receive a physical copy. The programs are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 or higher, and devices that run on Windows Mobile.
