Intego says it has posted a v10.5.5 update for VirusBarrier X5, its signature anti-virus software. The app is claimed to be the only one capable scanning iPhone and iPod touch volumes, as well as those on Macs. The v10.5.5 patch improves the performance of manual as well as automatic real-time scans; in the latter case, special attention has been paid to Samba sharing volumes.Handling of FileVault volumes has been improved, and repairs can now be performed on files that are technically inaccessible, so long as authentication has been performed. Users of v10.5.5 should also notice various bug fixes, and "enhanced management" of the Quarantine Zone. VirusBarrier X5 costs $70, and runs on Mac OS X 10.4 or later. The patch is a free download through NetUpdate.
