Maya NURBS Modeling 3rd Ed. training video launches
Dover Studios has launched its Maya NURBS Modeling Third Edition visual effects training video. The video focuses on introducing visual effects artists to NURBS (Non-uniform rational B-spline, a mathematical model for generating and representing curves and surfaces) modeling tools when working in Autodesk's 3D modeling, animation and effects suite Maya. The third edition of the video is completely revised and updated, with new examples, detailed descriptions and over two hours of 1080P high-definition video.

Some of the video's lessons including how to keep objects organized with the layer editor, how to create accurate scale models from reference images and other timesaving measures. Some of the topics covered include creating curves with control points, opening and closing curves, cutting and attaching, as well as reversing curves and use of the smooth, pencil, and arc curve tools. They also cover creating text and creating NURBS surfaces with tools like loft, extrude, revolve, planar and the boundary surface tool.

The video also cover use of the brush-based Maya Artisan and advanced topics like such as curve and surface parameterization, UV surface coordinate work, adjusting surface tessellation, editing surface components and rebuilding NURBS surfaces.

The training video is now available via download for $125, with single and multi-user licenses available. It is a 131-minute, 650MB 1920x1080 QuickTime format video.
