Microsoft has announced the opening of additional invitations to participate in the beta testing and preview of its Live Mesh client for Mac. The technology takes advantage of the company's cloud computing architecture, using it to push sync information to devices, but by storing and routing the data through a Microsoft cloud server. Users can upload files, folders, and even certain applications to the mesh, with controls over private or public access. The technology is still in its testing stages, and certain functions, such as porting contact and calendar information directly into apps or websites, are not initially available for Mac platforms. In contrast to similar sync services, Mircosoft offers 5GB of storage on the Live Mesh servers for free.
