Apple on Tuesday posted the video stream for the new laptop event, which saw the introduction of iMac-inspired MacBooks and MacBook Pros, a retooled 24-inch Cinema Display with built-in iSight. The event commences with talks from Apple CEO Steve Jobs and COO Tim Cook, where Cook highlights various reasons for increased Mac sales, with a tongue-in-cheek credit to Vista for part of the influx.
Cook goes on to introduce the first Australian and Chinese stores, before making a segue to Apple's market accomplishments. Apple reportedly sees one out of every three dollars spent in the computer market, and shows that it has surpassed Dell in education, with 39-percent of US education notebooks being a Mac.
The MacBook Air saw a processor upgrade to the Montevina chipsets, as well as the introduction of NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics processors, allegedly offering five times the performance of the Intel X3100 chipsets.
The MacBooks and MacBook Pros received similar upgrades, as well as glossy screens across the entire line. Apple removed FireWire from the standard MacBooks, but kept a lone FireWire 800 port on the Pros.
Apple complimented the introduction of a new mini-DisplayPort with a new 24-inch Cinema Display, featuring a built-in microphone, iSight camera, USB hub, and stereo speakers. The display and portables pick up on styling cues of the current generation iMacs.
