Inventory leak shows no price drop for new MacBooks
An alleged Best Buy inventory printout for new MacBook models shows pricing unchanged from current versions, according to a leak on Gizmodo. The list uses color codes to represent the different models, and mentions prices ranging from $1,100 for the 13-inch base model up to $2,800 for the 17-inch MacBook Pro. Information such as dimensions and stock dates are believed to be temporary placeholders.

If the pricing from the inventory listing is accurate, it would indicate that the speculation of price drops is false. Analyst firm Piper Jaffray anticipates an entry-level cost of $900 to $1,000, pending Apple's formal announcement on Tuesday. Historically, Piper analysts have been fairly accurate with their forecasts, and the prices on the Best Buy inventory sheet could also be placeholders, which would only be changed after Apple's press event.
