LaCie unveils 5big Network 5-bay RAID, up to 7.5TB |
LaCie has unveiled its latest storage device, the 5big Network, featuring five RAID drive bays and capacity up to 7.5TB. The drives can be configured across seven RAID modes including RAID 5 and RAID 6 which protect the data from the failure of one or two disks, respectively. An aluminum housing protects the hot-swappable drives that can be locked into place for added security. Various network protocols are supported for Windows, Mac, or Linux systems, with a maximum capacity of 25 concurrent users.Multiple 5big cases can be stacked for applications that require more storage. Administrators can use the browser-based access and management system to setup the network for access by users, without putting a load on the bandwidth of a central server. The 5big Network is available in 2.5TB, 5TB, and 7.5TB versions for $900, $1,400, and $1,900, respectively. |
