StuffIt Deluxe 2009 adds Leopard, MobileMe features
Smith Micro says it has released StuffIt Deluxe 2009, an upgraded version of its popular compression program. The 2009 edition adds a variety of features, most notably support for more recent Apple technologies. These include Time Machine and Quick Look, the latter of which lets users examine an archive within Finder and other supporting applications, such as Mail.

The program can now also transfer archives to iDisks, using DropStuff or StuffIt Scheduler. DropStuff has been separately enhanced with custom profiles and desktop droplets, which let users define presets for handling specific compression formats.

Other changes include the exclusion of duplicate files from archives, support for expanding 7-Zip and segmented ZIP files, and MacFUSE compatibility, which lets people mount an archive in Finder as if it were a disk image. StuffIt Deluxe 2009 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later, and costs $80 new or $30 as an upgrade from StuffIt Standard Edition or any previous version of Deluxe.
