Modality brings Zollinger's...

McGraw-Hill Professional and Modality have joined forces to bring Zollinger's Atlas of Surgical Operations to the iPhone and iPod touch. The surgical reference applications are designed to provide medical students, residents, and surgeons with instant mobile access to step-by-step surgical procedures. Many of the included procedures provide narrated animations adapted from McGraw-Hill's AccessSurgery, an online surgical education resource that outlines each step from Indications and Preoperative Preparation to Closure and Postoperative Care.

Utilizing the iPhone interface, users can navigate through detailed images and animations with the flick of a finger, pinch to zoom in to details, and tap to read easy-to-follow instructions for each procedure.

The first app, Zollinger's Atlas of Surgical Operations: Gastrointestinal: Lower, is available now, with Zollinger's Atlas of Surgical Operations: colorectal procedures to appear any day. Each will sell for $35 on the iTunes App Store, working on the iPhone and iPod touch. Three additional apps are expected by year's end, and all the apps will see periodic updates with new surgical animations as they become available.
