Rogers Wireless will be changing its base iPhone bundles come October 1st, an anonymous source claims. Having agreed to extend its popular 6GB data plan to the end of September, the Canadian carrier has only so far made reference to changes in normal iPhone data plans for subsequent months. The rumored new bundles would include a $60 plan with 250 daytime minutes, 75 texts and 1GB of data, as well as Visual Voicemail, three months of unlimited local calling, and a permanent MY5 Local option. At present, an equivalent $60 plan grants just 150 minutes and 400MB of data, with no MY5 Local calling included.Another new bundle, costing $75, would allegedly incorporate 400 minutes, 100 texts and 2GB of data, again with Visual Voicemail and three months of unlimited local calling, but additionally upgrading MY5 Local to National.
Rogers has been under considerable pressure to adjust its plans, which are seen as extremely restrictive compared to AT&T in the United States. Although the latter company's plans start at $70 and do not include texting by default, they offer more voice minutes, and unlimited data access.
