Lightroom 2 adds precision tools, enhanced RAW tools
Adobe on Tuesday unveiled Photoshop Lightroom 2, a major update to its photo management, tweaking, and presenting software, offering users enhancements such as dual-monitor support, non-destructive localized image correction, and improved search capabilities. Lightroom 2 also marks Adobe's first attempt at a fully 64-bit application, offering improved memory performance when dealing with large image files. Adobe is offering Lightroom 2 for $300, with an upgrade available for $100.

In addition, Lightroom 2 offers enhanced RAW support, allowing users to take advantage of default camera profiles to emulate visual effects commonly seen with industry-favorite camera equipment. Over 190 cameras are supported, with profiles available from Adobe Labs.

Lightroom 2 includes an enhanced Library module, allowing users to visually organize images across multiple hard drives, with a new filter bar and keyword suggestions to help refine image searches.

The Develop mode now has a new Local Adjustment brush, so users can edit specific areas of the picture, without affecting others
