REALbasic 2008 hits Release 3

REAL has posted Release 3 of REALbasic, its cross-platform development environment. The software provides object-oriented programming and a corresponding framework, and can also compile native executables for Mac, Windows and Linux systems. Release 3 introduces the Attributes language feature, and a new project analyzer which warns about deprecated functionality and other code issues.

Also new are an integrated performance profiler, the ability to add types within classes, and "several improvements" to the recent introspection component. The Mac version of REALbasic requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later, along with 1GB of RAM and a 1GHz G4 processor. A Personal Edition costs $100, while cross-platform deployment requires the $500 Professional Edition.
