ASUS announces Eee PC 904 HD pricing, ship date
ASUS today announced the pricing of and more information on its new Eee PC 904 mini notebook, which it revealed just earlier this week. The new mini laptop PC will act as another offering in its Eee PC range, as opposed to replacing one of the existing products, like previously rumored. It will be the lowest-priced Eee PC in the range with a 9-inch screen, thanks to a combination of its chassis, screen size and hardware specs.
The chassis of the Eee PC 904 is shared with the Eee PC 1000, though the screen comes from the Eee PC 901 parts bin, and is sized at 8.9 inches and good for a 1024x600-pixel resolution. To keep the price down, the Intel Atom chip common the Eee PCs makes way for a 900MHz Celeron M, along with 1GB of memory. The 80GB hard drive is pre-loaded with Windows XP.
When the 904 launches in the UK in mid-July, it will carry a tax-inclusive price of £269 (about $530). At the same time, ASUS decreased the price of the Eee PC 901 down to £299 from £329. [via WhatLaptop]
