Apple presents WWDC Design Awards

Apple has announced the winners of its 2008 Design Awards, meant to encourage development for its different product lines. Highlights include Vara Software's ScreenFlow screencasting software, which won both the Best OS X Application and Best OS X Graphics and Media Application awards; Aspyr's port of Guitar Hero III, which won for Best OS X Game; and Omni Group's OmniFocus, which won for Best iPhone Productivity App. Pangea's Enigmo, used to demonstrate iPhone 2.0 apps, took home Best iPhone Game.

Some other winners include Orbicule's Macnification, which received Best OS X User Experience; Remember the Milk's self-titled to-do software, voted Best iPhone Web App; and Icon Factory's Twitterific, the Best iPhone Social Networking App. Victors in the main awards received two 15-inch MacBook Pros, two 30-inch Cinema Displays, one 16GB iPod touch, one 8GB iPhone, an ADC Premier Membership, and compensation for one WWDC ticket, including airfare and lodging.

The winner of the Best OS X Student Project, the Squirrel finance app, earned creator Axel Peju a 15-inch MacBook Pro, a 30-inch Cinema Display, a 16GB Touch, an ADC 2008 Student Membership, and compensation for his WWDC expenses.
