EarthBrowser 3.0: Doppler, ...
Lunar Software has released EarthBrowser 3.0, an update to the real-time three dimensional model of the earth that offers continuously updated global information. The software renders a virtual representation of the earth along with a large variety of current data, including new Doppler Radar and Northern Lights overlays, animated weather model forecasts from NOAA, and more. Animated weather model forecasts from the NOAA are continuously updated for the entire world, and include datasets for Precipitation, Snowfall, Temperature, Pressure, Humidity, Wind Speed/Direction and more.

Leveraging Adobe's AIR framework for bringing internet rich applications to the desktop, users can easily rotate and magnify the globe to give a distant or close up view of the earth from space. Users can explore, investigate and research information about the entire world using a variety of internet resources. Version 3.0 offers seamless web integration -- with an embedded browser -- for location-based information and user-based bookmarks. The new bookmarks enable users to create, store and share your own links, placemarks and photos. In addition, users can create, load and share information in the industry standard KML format as well as view arthquake data from the USGS and volcano information from the Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program. The shareware EarthBrowser 3.0 requires Mac OS X 10.4 and requires Adobe AIR (automatically installed). Upgrade from version 2.x are $20, while the version is priced at $30 and includes two years of upgrades and support.
