Airfoil 3.1 gets Apple TV s...
Rogue Amoeba has announced Airfoil 3.1, a new release of its AirPort Express extender for Mac OS X. This version includes complete support for sending audio to the Apple TV and Airfoil Speakers for Windows. The Take 2 update from Apple enables the Apple TV to appear as an AirTunes device, just like an AirPort Express, meaning iTunes can send audio to it. Now Airfoil opens the device up to receiving any audio. It can stream media players like QuickTime Player or Realplayer to web-based content like Pandora, Last.fm, Sirius or XM,

In addition, Airfoil Speakers is now available for Windows as well as Mac OS X. Airfoil Speakers is a complimentary add-on for both Airfoil for Mac and Airfoil for Windows, enabling users to turn remote computers into virtual AirPort Express units. Once Airfoil Speakers is running, users can now send audio to other Macs and PCs across their network. Other enhancements include: improvements to Airfoil Speaker to provide skip-free audio; enhanced DVD support in Airfoil Video Player; improved performance on low-end machines, full compatibility with Front Row, and many other minor fixes and improvements. Airfoil for Mac 3.1 is immediately available for download and purchase, for Mac OS X 10.4 and up, and is a free update for all owners of Airfoil 3. The software is $25 for new buyers.
