REALbasic 2008 Release 1 no...
REAL Software is now shipping REALbasic 2008 Release 1, its cross-platform development environment for Mac OS X, Linux, and Microsoft Windows. Offering over 39 minor improvements, REALbasic 2008 Release 1 includes a new feature called Introspection, which allows programmers to access the type and characteristics of an object at runtime -- before compiling a program. The new feature makes object-oriented programming easier to use and understand while allowing more advanced dynamic programming techniques in creating REALbasic applications.

Two additional improvements in REALbasic 2008 Release 1 includes the use of variant data types that can contain arrays, and greater programmer control over interface method implementation linkage. A demo version of REALbasic 2008 Release 1 is available for download, while REALbasic Personal Edition for Windows and Mac OS X is priced at $100. REALbasic Personal Edition for Linux is available for free, and REALbasic Professional Edition for cross-platform development is priced at $500. Based in Austin, Texas, REAL Software has been selling REALbasic since 1996. REALbasic is compatible with Microsoft Visual Basic and includes a utility to port Visual Basic programs to REALbasic, creating cross-platform applications that can run on all three platforms. REAL Software promises updates to REALbasic every 90 days; each new REALbasic license includes all updates for six months.
